Step 1
Submission of Branch Form (MU3): Complete and submit the Branch Form (MU3) in NMLS. This form serves as the application for the license through NMLS.Submitted via: NMLS
Step 2
Other Trade Name: If operating under a name that is different from the applicant’s legal name, that name (“Trade Name,” “Assumed Name,” "Fictitious Name," or “DBA”) must be listed under the Other Trade Names section of the Company Form (MU1). Arkansas Securities Department does not limit the number of other trade names. If operating under an “Other Trade Name,” upload Arkansas Secretary of State registrations documents regarding ability to do business under that trade name. This document should be named [State-License Type] Trade Name – Assumed Name. Note: It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all names are properly registered with the Arkansas Secretary of State and with the required municipality or government agency, if applicable.Submitted via: Upload in NMLS: under the Document Type Trade Name/Assumed Name Registration Certificates in the Document Uploads section of the Company Form (MU1).
Step 3
Branch Manager: A Branch Manager must be designated for each licensed location. A Branch Manager is defined as the individual who is in charge of the business operations of one (1) or more branch offices of a mortgage broker, mortgage banker, or mortgage servicer. Branch Manager must hold an active Arkansas MLO license.Submitted via: NMLS
Step 4
Branch Manager (MU2) Attestation: Complete the Individual Form (MU2) in NMLS. This form must be attested to by the applicable branch manager before it is able to be submitted along with the Branch Form (MU3).Submitted via: NMLS
General information
Who is required to have this license?
Any person who engages in the business of making mortgage loans for compensation or other gain. Making a mortgage loan means to close a mortgage loan, to advance funds, to offer to advance funds, or to make a commitment to advance funds to a borrower under a mortgage loan.
Ark. Code Ann. § 23-39-503 and Ark. Code Ann. § 23-39-502(31) and (33).

• Second mortgage lending
• Home equity lending/lines of credit
• Reverse mortgage lending
• High cost home loans
• Manufactured housing financing

Arkansas Securities Department does not issue paper licenses for this license type.
