General information

Who is required to have this registration? Each additional location of a licensed mortgage broker or mortgage lender, other than the main office location as identified on the mortgage company MU1, whether or not located in Louisiana, from which residential mortgage brokering, funding, and/or originating subject to the Louisiana S.A.F.E. Residential Mortgage Lending Act is conducted involving Louisiana residential property. When not to file this registration? An MU3 should not be filed for the main office location or any other office where you do not engage in residential mortgage lending activity as defined in LSA-R.S. 6:1083(11) or activities pertinent to the origination, brokering or funding of a Louisiana residential mortgage loan. Instructions: 1. Each branch location desiring to conduct business under this license authority must be separately authorized and will require the filing of Branch Form (MU3) through the NMLS prior to the addition or change of location of the branch. 2. Each individual originating residential mortgage loans at the new location must be separately licensed. An Individual Form (MU4) must be filed through the NMLS system and approved by LOFI for each individual originator. After the Individual Form (MU4) is submitted, the company must submit a sponsorship request to the regulator before the individual MU4 license will be approved. Total branch fee: $120, which includes the NMLS processing fee. 4. All fees are collected through the NMLS and are non-refundable. 5. The regulator will review the filing and all required documents and communicate with you via e-mail through NMLS. To review your status in NMLS, click the Tasks tab and click Work List. 6.
