Missouri prepayment penalty rules

Missouri permits prepayment penalties on residential first-lien mortgage loans, but capped at 2% of the outstanding balance at prepayment. No penalty may be charged if the loan is paid off after five years from origination and before maturity. Additionally, for adjustable-rate or alternative mortgage loans, no penalty may be imposed on prepayments made within 90 days following notice of an interest rate adjustment.
