Consumer Protection - Retail Transactions for Essential Consumer Goods - Cash Payments

Summary

If enacted, this bill would prohibit merchants in Maryland from refusing cash payments or charging extra for cash during the hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. for essential consumer goods. It would also prohibit requiring customers to use credit or debit cards for such purchases. A violation would be considered an unfair, abusive, or deceptive trade practice.
