Enhancing Consumer Protection Procedures Amendment Act of 2025

Summary

If enacted, this bill would enhance consumer protection enforcement in the District of Columbia by granting the Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection additional authority to issue subpoenas, seek asset freezes, and impose mandatory minimum penalties for violations. It would prohibit retaliation against consumers who file complaints and create liability for aiding and abetting prohibited trade practices. The bill also allows the recovery of legal costs in actions brought by the Attorney General and permits the use of interrogatories and sworn investigative statements in investigations.
