General information

Who is required to have this license? The Alabama Mortgage Brokers Licensing Act requires companies to obtain a license for each location where the business of the mortgage broker is transacted. Who does not need this license? • The main office that is currently licensed or has applied for a license under the Alabama Mortgage Brokers Licensing Act. Pre-requisites for license applications? • Surety Bond: The original rider from the surety bond provider acknowledging the new branch office location, and that it is covered under the main office’s surety bond. • No license shall be issued to a location zoned as residential. Documentation proving that the location is not zoned residential may be required. Mortgage loan originators must be licensed at this location prior to any mortgage loan originations being conducted.
