Step 2
Other Trade Name: If operating under a name that is different from the applicant’s legal name, that name (“Trade Name”, “Assumed Name” or “DBA”) must be listed under the Other Trade Names section of the Company Form (MU1). DISB does not limit the number of other trade names. Note: Applicants should not include “dba” in front of their Other Trade Name, and Other Trade Names should not be included in the Legal Name field in the Company Form (MU1). If operating under an “Other Trade Name”, upload a Trade Name Registration Certificate issued by the District of Columbia Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP) for each registered trade name used by the applicant regarding ability to do business under that trade name. Step 3
Resident/Registered Agent: The Resident/Registered Agent information must be listed under the Resident/Registered Agent section of the Company Form (MU1) and MUST match exactly the information currently on record with the District of Columbia Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP). Surety Bond: See the License Requirements and Fees Chart on the NMLS Resource Center for details related to this Requirement. An Electronic Surety Bond via NMLS in the amount of $50,000 furnished and submitted by a surety company authorized to conduct business in D.C. Step 5
Certificate of Registration/Good Standing Certificate: Upload a Certificate of Registration or Certificate of Good Standing issued by the District of Columbia Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP) demonstrating that the applicant is authorized to do business in the District of Columbia. The DLCP’s Corporations Division registers all entities that conduct business in the District of Columbia. Certificates should be dated no more than 60 days prior to the filing of the application through NMLS. Contact DLCP staff by telephone at: 202-671-4500. Registration Renewal is required after initial registration. A true sole proprietorship is not required to obtain a Certificate of Registration from the D.C. DLCP. NOTE: This is a state-specific document. Select District of Columbia from the state drop-down menu when uploading in NMLS. Step 6
Automatic Student Loan Servicer License Certification: Applicant must complete the Automatic Student Loan Servicer License Certification. The Certification must be executed by an authorized signer and uploaded to the NMLS.
