  1. Step 1

    A branch manager must be designated for each licensed location and the branch manager must hold a Lending Manager license. A branch manager can only serve as a manager for one location. The Lending Manager serving as the Principal Lending Manager for the company may not also serve as the Branch Manager. See the Lending Manager License Checklist or the Utah DRE website, www.realestate.utah.gov for requirements and filing for this additional license.

    File a Form MU3 through NMLS

    A Form MU1 must be filed in NMLS for the Company before a branch filing can occur.

    The registration costs include the NMLS processing fee and the new application fee. All fees are payable through NMLS and are non-refundable. Once a request for licensure has been made in NMLS, the Utah Division of Real Estate will review for approval.

General information

Who is required to have this license? Any additional physical location of the entity, other than the “home/main” location licensed under the MU1 Form, regardless whether inside or outside of Utah, engaged in residential mortgage loans for compensation, or in the expectation of compensation, including originating a residential mortgage loan, directly or indirectly soliciting, placing, or negotiating a residential mortgage loan for another, or rendering services related to the origination of a residential mortgage loan, including taking an application and communicating with the borrower and lender. Who does not need this license? All branch locations of an entity engaged in residential mortgage loans in Utah are required to hold a license.
