State rules / Permissible Fees
Connecticut permissible fees
The regulation prohibits payment of commissions, gratuities, or broker's fees to dealers or salesmen for loan referrals under Part III of Chapter 668. However, affiliated entities making loans over $5,000 may pay such fees, subject to limitations: if a nonrefundable prepaid finance charge is assessed, the fees are limited per § 36a-570-17; otherwise, such fees are capped at 8% of the loan amount for closed-end loans or 8% of the initial cash advance for open-end loans. The regulation does not address other fees such as origination, application, processing, or underwriting fees.
