Florida permissible fees
For mortgage loans, a mortgage broker may charge a loan origination fee capped as follows: on loans of $1,000 or less, $250; on loans $1,001–$2,000, $250 plus $10 per additional $100; on loans $2,001–$5,000, $350 plus $10 per additional $100; on loans over $5,000, $250 plus 10% of entire loan. Additionally, at application, a mortgage broker may accept a nonrefundable application fee which must be credited against the origination fee if funded. No other compensation for loan origination is allowed. The statute does not address lender-charged fees separately; those are governed by federal law and other state provisions not provided.
